What Lifeline includes

With Lifeline

A Linux administrator helps you get your VPS running again, resolve a problem or make changes. You remain your server’s administrator and contact us as needed, using the credit included with your subscription.

Access and recovery

We help restore lost SSH access, correct permissions or recover a system that will not boot. We also intervene when a Linux service is preventing your VPS from operating normally.

Configuration and updates

We handle system settings: packages, updates, networking, firewalls, partitions and disks. If needed, we work with you to prepare a version upgrade for your Linux distribution.

Diagnosis and security

When your VPS slows down, we look for the cause in its resources and logs. After a security incident, we harden access and the server configuration where possible.

Help with your applications

Lifeline primarily covers the Linux system. For software installed on your VPS, we provide assistance: we investigate the issue and correct the configuration where possible, without modifying your code. Time spent is deducted from the same credit.

Troubleshooting and configuration for your Linux system

“I can no longer connect over SSH”

We check the SSH service, keys, permissions and firewall to restore access.

“My VPS will not boot after an update”

We analyse startup, services and their logs to correct what is preventing the system from booting.

“apt is stuck and dpkg reports an error”

A failed package or dependency conflict can block apt. We identify the cause to get the package manager working again.

“My disk is full and I do not know why”

A storage analysis identifies the files taking up space. With your approval, we clean up files, adjust partitions or mount an additional disk.

“I need to open a port or fix networking”

We work on IPv4, IPv6, DNS resolution and firewall rules. For example, opening port 25565 and checking the rule.

“I want to upgrade my Linux distribution”

We prepare the upgrade and check services. Moving from Debian 12 to Debian 13 can take more than an hour: we estimate the time before starting.

“My VPS is slow or running out of memory”

CPU load, RAM, swap, disk activity and logs usually point us to the cause of the slowdown.

“My server has been compromised”

Where possible, we revoke suspicious access, remove identified malicious components and harden the system. Reinstallation may still be necessary.

Help with your applications

“My WordPress site shows a 500 error”

We check the web server, PHP, logs and database connection. If the cause is in a theme or plugin’s code, its developer will need to fix it.

“My Docker container keeps restarting”

Container logs, configuration and available resources help identify the cause. We then suggest a fix.

“My emails are going to spam”

We check SPF, DKIM, DMARC and sending reputation. Final delivery also depends on the recipient’s mail servers.

“My certificate no longer renews”

An error in Certbot, domain validation or web server configuration can prevent renewal. We investigate the cause to restore certificate renewal.

Request an intervention

  1. Describe your needs

Frequently asked questions

Is this a managed service?
No. With Lifeline, you remain in control of your VPS and our administrators step in when you request help. If you want us to handle its day-to-day administration, maintenance and monitoring, you can choose a Business service. Your usual VPS support remains available in either case.
One credit balance for all my VPSs?
No. One subscription covers one VPS: 60 minutes every 3 months from activation. Unused minutes expire, with no rollover or transfer. Three VPSs need three subscriptions with separate balances.
Why offer a subscription and one-off support?
The subscription renews on your VPS billing cycle and grants the quarterly credit on activation. One-off support is paid per intervention, with a 30-minute minimum and no subscription renewal. Credit has no waiting period.
How quickly do you intervene?
Requests are handled seven days a week, without weekend or public-holiday surcharges. We aim to respond as promptly as possible, generally within the day on weekdays. Indicative only, with no SLA or guarantee of resolution within the day.
Does the snapshot replace a backup?
No. Before the intervention, we create a snapshot of your VPS where possible, including on VPS Economy plans. It is kept for 7 days and you can restore it from your client area, without contacting support or using your Lifeline credit. If creation fails, we let you know so you can choose in writing whether to proceed without a snapshot or postpone the intervention. If your snapshot slots are full, you can tell us which snapshot to delete. This snapshot provides temporary protection: keep your own backups on separate storage.
How do I cancel?
From your client area. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, without a pro-rata refund, subject to applicable rights. Credit becomes unavailable when the subscription ends. If you reactivate Lifeline for the same VPS before the original three-month period ends, only its unused balance is restored, with no new credit or extension.
My VPS was hacked: can you secure it?
We can help you regain control of your VPS by removing suspicious access, deleting identified malicious components and strengthening its configuration. After a compromise, these steps may not be enough to ensure the server is clean; a reinstallation may be necessary. Lifeline does not include an in-depth investigation to reconstruct the attack.
